About

Have you ever wondered about the real purpose of design? I have. A lot. After five years of design entrepreneurship I became close to hating my dream profession. But then I figured out the cause of my resentment.

It just doesn’t feel sensible to design yet another stylish object or service, beautiful and anonymous. To be clear here, design without artistic and cultural content is like an assembly line where the designer never asks “why?”, but instead copy-pastes learned aesthetics into whatever job they have to do next. The question is, why is design used as a tool for equalizing instead of differentiating, which would be a far more suitable role for it?

I’m a highly idealistic person, but as I also want to make my dreams come true in the real world, I need to ask what are the practicalities that need to be taken into account? Design could be interesting in so many ways, but what exactly is the context of design in real life and for real people?

I therefore decided to talk with professionals from different fields of life and find out how they use design in their work.

It’s great that you share my interests! I would be very happy to read your musings and feedback in the comments.
